Bike Friday owners aren't shy. When we asked how we could improve on our offerings of 20-inch wheel Bike Fridays, our owners answered with a resounding cry for Belt Drive Technology.
We put head designer Rob English and Co-Founder Alan Scholz to work, and the result is the latest Bike Friday offering: Silk.
Our redesigned rear triangle allows any Belt Drive System to maintain its proper tension in and out of our tried and true fold.

The Silk is made possible by a special RAD technology (ratcheting adjustable dropout)(patent applied), which allows for incremental chain stay length without the possibility of slipping out of adjustment. It is completely modular so it can adapt to any type of drive chain.
The belt drive on the 20-inch wheels offers a much better gear range than it does on our 16-inch tikit, something many
many Bike Friday customers have requested.
Silk also takes all the new hub drives that have become available in the last few years along with any derailleur system and makes them available on a core style Pocket Bike Friday, whether it be touring, commuter, road or mountain.
As an introduction to Silk, we offer four basic versions available on 406 or 451 wheels:
