a che serve?

la mia dahon 5 è equipaggiata con il suo toolset originale(vedi foto)  in cui vi è uno strumento(quella specie di molla con il manico) che non comprendo a cosa serve...sapreste indicarmi quale è il suo utlizzo?

non l'ho mai visto prima ma provo a buttarmi.... che serva a qualche intervento sui freni?
Dalle dimensioni e forma della staffa e considerato il tipo di freni delle Dahon storiche ci può stare.... magari per poter mollare il cavo del freno senza far aprire completamente le ganasce.

l'unica maniera che ho trovato per utilizzarlo sui freni è quella in foto , sembra quasi che funga da "freno a mano"
rimane molto in tensione e blocca completamente la ruota ....

gia,come pure sbrindola ha immaginato ..credo sia l'unica spiegazione plausibile.
Comunque non mi è mai capitato di vedere o usare un attrezzo del genere prima d'ora

forse non serve solo durante la regolazione.
su una vecchia pagina del profondo web si parla dell'upgrade dei freni brompton pre-2000 da Mark II a Mark III che comportano una riduzione di spazio di frenata notevole.
chi scrive dice che il "brake clamp" è indispensabile per l'operazione.
e poi:

First, secure the front calipers with your brake clamp. Its jaws should go over the brake shoe bolt ends. Pull on the brake handles to move the housing away from them; you can now remove the cable from the brake handle housing by pulling it up and over the handle. Remove the brake clamp from the front brakes and unscrew the center bolt to remove them from the frame of the bicycle. Locate the allen screw through the top of the brake handle. Remove this screw to take the old brake handle from the bike. After you remove the cable from the handle, unscrew the cable wire securing screw from the front brake bracket. You can then remove the bracket from the bicycle by unscrewing the nut which holds the main brake bolt to the frame.
