pakiT Kickstarter Update: Only 13 Days to Go!
Hello Bike Friday Community,
In the last few weeks we launched a new bike, the pakiT, on Kickstarter. And what an exciting ride it's been! Thank you for helping us make our first goal so quickly! We are thrilled to see just how many people want this new bike. It makes all of the hard work to create it truly worth it.
We continue to test the design and make improvements as we begin setting up the tooling to build the first production run of bikes. If you are thinking of getting a pakiT at the special Kickstarter price now is the time.
Save up to $625 by ordering through kickstarter.
Join the campaign here!
We've Hit Over 150% on Kickstarter:
Now This is Where Things Get Interesting...
You've Inspired Us to Add New Goals:
Help us reach $100K on the campaign!
If we hit 100K on the campaign, everyone gets a new color choice - Candy Apple (see picture below). Hitting 100K will help us finish the final development of the backpack and accessories much sooner!
Help us develop the pakiT Dealer Network!
Find 100 more people to order pakiTs by Sept. 21st
Dealers are crucial. More people will fall in love with the pakiT when they can test ride them at a local shop.
To do this, we need to sell 100 more pakiTs before the campaign ends. Selling an additional 100 bikes allows us to pay for the materials, shipping costs, and labor to send sample pakiTs to prospective dealers.
There are 13 days left to save up to $625 on the pakiT

TreeHugger Endorses the pakiT!
TreeHugger editor Lloyd Alter writes:
"I swore to myself I would never write about a crowdfunded bike again. But this is different...The pakiT may be the most compromise-free folding bike yet."

This special accelerated fatigue machine (affectionately called "Fluffy") is one of the several ways we test the strength of our frame designs.
It is tirelessly "working" on a pakiT frame right now.
More Fun pakiT Developments:
pakiT tours Europe by plane and boat: This pakiT just flew over the ocean for a tour of several European cities. While preparing for his international river cruise and bike tour, the customer reported this:
"I loved my tikit but the ride on the pakiT has a very sporty feel and I like it better. I'm impressed with the 3 speed, we have a steep hill near our house and the gearing worked well. Packing the pakiT in the travel suitcase was a snap! So much easier than the tikit."
-John L. from California
First pakiT decals arrive! Yay! I stuck them on 3 prototypes before sending them out for more testing around the world this week. They look great!
Rumor in the shop is that Alan (the pakiT designer) has built an 11lb (5kg) pakiT prototype! Inspired by people's excitement for the pakiT he just keeps experimenting on ways to make it even better. **Note** This 11lb prototype is still in development and highly experimental. We don't have any immediate plans to offer it, however, if we hit $300K by the 21st we will take our first major steps towards offering this bike by the end of 2017.
